Pink Christmas Tree

I'm sorry that I haven't commented on your blog sites for a while because I was on a trip in Japan. The photo above shows a gigantic tree that was in the shopping mall of the Sunshine City Prince Hotel where we stayed. Japan becomes more Christmasy every time we visit around the holidays. There are artificial trees in all the major stores and lots of ornaments and cards. I guess everyone wants occasions to celebrate and give gifts. I tried leaving comments on your blogs sites while in Japan, but they all appeared only in Japanese so I just did some blog surfing.
The photo below is of a card and some new HA stamps that Cheryl (Life is Sweet) sent me. Isn't her card so sweet? You can't see it clearly in the picture but the background is charmingly embossed with flowers. As with all of Cheryl's work, the card is well crafted and beautifully simple....much like the artistic craft work in Japan. Thanks again, Cheryl.

Shabby Chic Diva's Pink Christmas

OH CHRISTMAS TREE

The spirit of Christmas has arrived at our house amidst the nasty weather we have been enduring.  We had 24 hours of non-stop rain that was very heavy at times.  The down pour was so bad that there was low visibility.  In the Seattle area there was mudslides, road closures, flooding, and people being rescued from the roof tops of their homes.  It was so nasty that I stayed inside and focused on bringing holiday cheer inside.

The Christmas trees are decorated and festive touches are apparent throughout.  Charlie came home from Hawaii last evening and said "wow" when he walked through the door.  I think he loves being surround with Christmas decorations more than I do.  I mixed up my decorating this year and tried to come up with a new look.  Charlie of course wanted as much red as possible...............andI this year  I prefer the softer tones.  Here 's a look at our tree in our informal dining area overlooking the family room:

This room will officially be a keeping room once I get some comfortable seating.  A couple of over-sized chairs for reading and lounging would be great.  One can only dream!  I think my tree looks a little "funky" don't you think?  How are your holidays progressing?  I have even wrapped a few gifts.  Hopefully, I will get my presents in the mail early this year.....

Its Beginning to be a Pink Christmas

DSC09720 Our pink Christmas is beginning to really shape up.  I am done with the pink decorating and I have to say that Jeff is relieved that it is finally finished.  There is only so much pink one man can take.  Now you need to realize that the only pink Christmas that is going on is confined to the dinning room and oh yeah, the front porch.  This is the tree that I have been planning for several years now.  I truly love it.  The contrast between the white tree and the pink ornaments just sets the whole thing off.  The tree skirt is a saree that I purchased in India.  It is six yards of pink beaded silk loveliness, and boy, do I feel like a real princess when I wear it.  While in Delhi, last September I purchased pink beaded shoes that go perfect with it and I only paid $2.50. Really, how can you pass up such a bargain?  Here are some more picture of the pink Christmas.

These cute little pink wreaths I picked up at the Target dollar spot.  Score!  I added some ribbon and hot glued some silver balls to jazz them up a bit.

This is my table center piece.  I have no idea where all of this came from.  I am sure they were part of my after Christmas sale purchases of the past, as they were amongst the things in my "one day I will have a pink Christmas" box.  The table runner was a scrape of fabric I found in my work room.  Who would ever throw away a piece of such pink loveliness?

Another Target dollar spot find.  You really need to stop by the dollar spot at Target, there are so many fun things that you can find.

I think you get the picture of our pink Christmas here at our house.  Thank you for allowing me to give you the tour.  I keep finding myself sitting in the dinning room and enjoying this part of the house like I have never done before.  Soon I will give you a look at the porch that has a pink Christmas going on as well.

Pine Cone Ornament for Your Christmas Tree

Materials and Tools:
pinecones
turquoise metallic paint
1/4" turquoise ribbon
large gold beads
iridescent micro beads
paint brush
hot glue gun and glue sticks
Tacky Glue or other clear-drying glue
Steps:
1. Paint the tips on one side of the pinecone with turquoise paint. Rest on unpainted side and allow to dry.
2. Paint the other side of the pinecone and allow to dry.
3. While pinecone is drying, cut ribbon into an eight-inch piece. Cut ribbon end into a sharp angle and feed it through the hole in gold bead and knot it.
4. To create a ribbon loop for hanging the pine cone, feed ribbon back through bead and knot. Clean up the ribbon's ends by cutting off any excess.
5. Attach beaded ribbon hanger to top of pine cone with hot glue.
6. Finish decorating ornament by dabbing Tacky Glue or any other clear drying glue onto the painted pine cone tips. Sprinkle micro beads onto glue to add an iridescent snow-like sparkle to your pine cone ornament.
7. Display completed ornament on Christmas tree or as a festive natural touch on wrapped gifts.
